Xbox 360 Screen Freeze - Why Does it Keep Doing it and How Can I Stop It?

The xbox 360 screen freeze if one of the most frustrating things especially when you turn it off for a while thinking and it works ... only to freeze again!

And if your in the middle of a game that your winning or you've got further than you usually get and then it freezes it's enough to want to through it out the window!

One of the main reasons this happens is due to overheating. The console system in general can overheat but there is also more technical parts that can overheat, which is the main culprit for the xbox 360 screen freeze.

When those evil 3 red lights appear it's usually down to the General Processor Unit (GPU).

The console is programmed to shut off if the GPU or chips become overheated which is why the screen freezes.

There's no way of stopping the system shutting down if it becomes overheated so your best bet is to stop your system from overheating in the first place.

As you probably know it seems OK if you don't use it for a while but as soon as the chip get hot again ... screen freeze!

You may not have reached the "3 red lights" stage but if your system shuts down so many times they will appear. This is because the system assumes there is fault with the console because it has been shut down so many times.

If you're like me you'd rather perform a self repair instead of sending it away to get fixed. The only thing is you may not want to tamper with the system until you know exactly what you are doing.
